This dwelling existed on a critical lot due to an extreme change in elevation from the front of the proposed lot to the rear. A local jurisdiction in Tennessee requires all dwellings over 5,000 square feet to be structurally analyzed by a licensed engineer prior to issuing a building permit for the structure. DURIN Engineering provided structural analysis of the design plans and designed the foundation system for the structure. Once the design was completed, DURIN Engineering provided an engineering letter of conformance to the local jurisdiction. The foundation system was a combination of Superior Walls and CMU walls for the basement area. The basement has a slab-on-grade with porches at the rear. The upper garage has foundations with CMU walls and a slab-on-grade.
