TDOT PROJECT:
This TDOT project included the replacement of the I-24 bridge over Oldham Street and CSX Transportation, Inc. (CSXT) in Nashville, Davidson County. CSXT existed at the crossing location with one (1) mainline track and one (1) siding track prior to passing a swing railroad structure which overpasses the Cumberland River. The project used ABC techniques to replace the structure rapidly and open the interstate back up to traffic. The contractor-built substructure bents underneath the existing superstructure while traffic remained constant. Offsite the new deck components were fabricated and stored until TDOT’s weekend closure of the interstate when the new structure was built over a weekend and opened back up to traffic the following Monday at 5:00 AM CDT.
Mr. Lanius coordinated all aspects of this project for TDOT, from PE to construction. All TDOT expenses by the railroad were processed by Mr. Lanius.
