TDOT PROJECT:

The TDOT project named above involved the realignment of State Route 62 (Western Avenue) between Texas Avenue and Major Avenue over CSX Transportation, Inc (CSXT) and Knoxville & Holston River Railroad (KXHR). Additionally, the project realigned Keith Avenue over CSXT and KXHR. In the preconstruction condition, Keith Avenue was an at-grade crossing which was removed as part of the new realigned grade separated crossing.

Mr. Lanius coordinated the project, in his current capacity as the State RRC for TDOT, from beginning to end, and possessed all invoices submitted by the railroad which represented an incurred cost for TDOT reimbursement. The project required TDOT to design and negotiate cost share from the railroads in accordance with 23 CFR 646.210. Mr. Lanius negotiated the theoretic structure cost for both railroad entities and was responsible for processing payment to TDOT from both at the conclusion of construction. This project required one (2) large jack & bores underneath the railroad corridors and a creek at the grade separated realigned Western Avenue crossing and a single jack & bore underneath the railroad corridors at the realigned Keith Avenue grade separated crossing.
